Job Description

ELMO Software Pty Ltd is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Head Office in Sydney. This is a permanent, full-time position for a talented individual who is passionate about software development and eager to contribute to our innovative projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Participating in the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Writing clean, efficient code based on specifications and requirements.
  • Troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading existing systems.
  • Conducting performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, and automation.
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.

The main tasks of the role include:

  • Contributing to the planning and estimation of project deliverables.
  • Working closely with product management and other teams to understand detailed requirements.
  • Producing technical specifications and determining operational feasibility.
  • Maintaining high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
  • Assisting in peer code reviews to ensure the implementation aligns with the architecture principles and best practices.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in software development using languages such as Java, Python, or C++
  • Experience with web application development and related technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of database management systems (e.g. SQL, MySQL)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
