Desired Skills and Experience

Our Technology:

Rotageek teams work across a range of technologies. While specifics vary by team, our current ecosystem includes:
● Frontend: React, React Native, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML
● Backend: ASP.NET with C# (.NET Framework, .NET Core and above, migrating
to .NET 8)
● APIs: REST and GraphQL
● Databases: SQL, NoSQL, Snowflake
● Cloud: Microsoft Azure
● Infrastructure: CI/CD with TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, GitHub Actions, IaC using terraform
● Architecture: Service-oriented, asynchronous, messaging-based (in transition)

Required Skills & Experience:

As a Technical Lead, you write clean, maintainable, and technically sound code by consistently applying OO and SOLID principles. You possess a strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and care deeply about building scalable, performant systems, while remaining comfortable suggesting brave new ideas, technologies, and ways of working. Your modern engineering workflow includes the active use of AI-powered tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and Copilot to boost productivity and accelerate delivery. You thrive in agile, collaborative environments, contributing to short feedback loops and continuous improvement. Furthermore, you are comfortable working across a range of technologies and platforms, researching and evaluating the best solutions to drive the platform forward and rolling up your sleeves to solve problems fast when things go wrong.

In terms of your responsibilities, you build, run, and own the services and systems within your domain, delivering features and resolving bugs while proactively improving reliability and performance. You contribute to architecture decisions across both backend and frontend—including API design, data modelling, and service interactions; always considering the impact on downstream services and the end user. You are expected to break down complex work into actionable pieces, providing accurate estimates and delivering consistently with a healthy cycle time.

To maintain engineering excellence, you drive code quality and the review process by maintaining a high bar through testing and automation, using reviews to tutor colleagues on trade-offs and performance. You mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pair programming and knowledge sharing to help them grow technically. Collaboration is key, as you work across the squad and business with designers and product managers to deliver production-ready solutions. Finally, you champion good engineering practices; promoting accessibility, security, and observability while leading the adoption of AI and GenAI tooling where it drives real impact.

Ideal Experience:

  • Have a strong knowledge of ASP.NET and C# (.NET Framework or .NET Core), with
experience designing and building backend services and APIs using both REST
    and GraphQL.
  • Have experience developing complex web applications using React and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and familiarity with frontend architecture patterns including state management and component-based development.
  • Have a good understanding of back-end architecture, including database technologies (SQL/NoSQL and ORM), and service-oriented or microservices architecture.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and experience with CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, or GitHub Actions.
  • Be comfortable working across all areas of the software, including those you are new to, while maintaining depth within your primary area of focus.
  • Be confident managing competing priorities, troubleshooting issues under
  • pressure, and analysing and resolving complex customer queries with empathy and urgency.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to build effective working relationships across teams, translate between technical and non-technical language, and influence decisions through collaboration and persuasion.
  • Ideally have exposure to mobile app development using React Native
