Job Description

About the opportunity..

The Senior Product Owner is responsible for translating product strategy into actionable work, owning the product backlog, and ensuring successful delivery of valuable features. This role partners closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, writes detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria, and guides the development team through agile delivery.

Working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Design, Sales, and Customer Success, the Senior Product Owner drives product quality through rigorous testing and validation while ensuring all development aligns with business goals and compliance requirements.

As a senior product owner, this role also contributes to capability uplift across the product discipline through mentoring, training, and process improvement initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Translate Strategy into Action: Partner with leadership to deeply understand ELMO's vision and strategy, then skillfully translate roadmap items into well-defined epics and actionable work for development teams.
  • Master Product Delivery: Own and meticulously manage the product backlog using techniques like RICE evaluation and MoSCoW prioritisation. Break down initiatives into thin, valuable slices of work that deliver incremental customer value.
  • Lead Through Collaboration: Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Implementation, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success. Ensure alignment between business needs and technical delivery through effective communication and partnership.
  • Drive Customer-Centric Development: Lead product discovery efforts using customer interviews, usage data, and prototypes to validate assumptions and ensure we're solving real customer problems.
  • Champion Agile Excellence: Facilitate sprint ceremonies, write detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure efficient delivery. Maintain product quality through rigorous UAT coordination and "Definition of Done" enforcement.
  • Ensure Quality & Compliance: Validate that all features integrate seamlessly, meet compliance requirements, and deliver without regressions. Uphold ELMO's security and privacy standards throughout development.
  • Mentor and Improve: As a senior team member, mentor junior Product Owners, facilitate training sessions, and drive process improvements across the product discipline.

Desired Skills and Experience

Your essential expertise includes:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or equivalent, specifically within a SaaS technology platform.
  • A deep understanding of Agile product management and delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • The confidence to proactively identify issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with user-centered design principles.
  • Experience in a B2B environment, with Learning or HR domain is highly valued.
