Job Description

About the opportunity...

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be instrumental in revolutionizing the infrastructure and deployment experience across ELMO's technology platform, supporting our mission to serve over one million end users with exceptional reliability and performance. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Deeply understanding and championing ELMO's infrastructure needs, leveraging comprehensive cloud and automation expertise to inform strategic planning and implementation for our multi-region platform serving Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
  • Leading end-to-end infrastructure automation, translating business requirements and technical needs into robust, scalable cloud solutions and well-defined deployment pipelines.
  • Driving platform engineering best practices, implementing Infrastructure as Code, managing CI/CD pipelines, and facilitating seamless deployments to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery.
  • Fostering strong collaboration with dedicated engineering teams, client services teams, and key stakeholders to deliver exceptional platform reliability and performance.
  • Ensuring system security, compliance, and seamless integration across our ISO-certified platform, from infrastructure design to production monitoring and incident response.
  • Supporting ELMO's commitment to data security and privacy, maintaining our ISO 27001:2022 certification standards and preparing for ISO 42001:2023 certification as we advance our AI capabilities.

Desired Skills and Experience

What we would like to see you bring to the team...

  • 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or equivalent. Preferably within a SaaS environment.
  • Extensive Kubernetes experience in production environments, including deploying applications and managing clusters at scale. EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service) experience is highly regarded
  • Experience in designing and architecting infrastructure solutions on AWS and Kubernetes for scalable and secure production environments
  • Strong proficiency with CNCF ecosystem tools including Prometheus for monitoring, Flux for GitOps, and other cloud-native technologies
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise with Terraform and/or Pulumi for managing cloud resources and deployments
  • Strong Python programming skills for automation, tooling, and infrastructure management
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and automation (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
  • Strong SRE mindset with proven experience working with centralized observability stacks, preferably the Elastic Stack.
  • Exceptional technical communication and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with experience in high-availability systems
  • Confidence to proactively identify infrastructure issues and implement effective solutions
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS environment, with multi-tenant architecture or HR technology platforms highly desired
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001)
  • Strong experience working in linux based systems and implementing networking concepts in AWS

Highly valued additional experience:

  • Apache Kafka experience for event streaming and data pipeline management
  • GitOps workflows and best practices with tools like ArgoCD, Flux, or similar
  • Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, CKA/CKAD)
  • Additional scripting languages (Go, Bash) and automation frameworks
