Job Description

 About the opportunity…

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Intermediate Software Engineer is responsible for contributing to product features while writing high-quality code (with tests) autonomously.

The Intermediate Software Engineer collaborates within the team, contributes effectively to team workshops and agile processes and shares insights with the team. They are a mentor and a buddy to juniors and graduates and provide technical influence within the team.

The core responsibilities of the Intermediate Software Engineer includes but is not limited to: 

  • Work effectively within the agile team, collaborating with product owners and other developers to achieve the OKR goals.
  • Systematically diagnose and troubleshoot software defects. Actively maintain current services.
  • Actively participate in team discussions, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing to process improvements and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and incorporating suggestions.
  • Adhere to coding standards and deliver high-quality software features according to specifications and best practices.
  • Consistently write clean, testable, and maintainable code across larger more complex projects.
  • Consistently follows SOLID principles, design patterns, OOP and best practices.
  • Contribute to the technical design of new features and enhancements, considering scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with ELMO’s information security privacy policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain the technical documentations, including solution designs, service specifications, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development.

  

Desired Skills and Experience

What we would like you to bring to the team...

 

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience of minimum three years.
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years’ work experience as a software engineer in an agile/scrum environment. 
  • Well-developed communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate 3-5 of experience in PHP, preferably but not limited to Symphony or Laravel
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, MVC and design patterns. 
  • Good understanding of cloud technology e.g. AWS.
  • Good understanding of API design and best practices.
  • Understanding of Domain Driven Design.
  • Knowledge of concurrency patterns.
  • Experience with popular web application frameworks.
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application.
  • Understanding of Javascript e.g. React, Node, Angular.
  • Demonstrate experience in MySQL or any other SQL database.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git.
