About the opportunity…

Do you enjoy problem-solving and using data to analyze information on a grand scale? Are you passionate about manipulating data to tackle complex internal and external customer problems and improve business results?

We are looking for a Data Architect who will design, build, and optimize scalable data infrastructure and support our analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to shape the future of data engineering at ELMO Software.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain Data Pipelines: Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines that handle large volumes of data reliably and efficiently. Ensure data workflows are robust and automated for consistent data delivery.
  • Data Integration and Collaboration: Work with a variety of data sources, including SQL and NoSQL databases, APIs, and third-party data, to integrate into a centralized platform. Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet business needs.
  • Design Scalable Data Architecture: Partner with business leaders and product teams to design data models and architecture that support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Ensure Data Quality and Governance: Implement rigorous data quality checks, validation, and governance policies to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance.
  • Optimise Data Performance: Monitor and optimize performance of data pipelines, databases, and data storage solutions to ensure high availability and efficiency.
  • Mentorship and Team Leadership: Mentor data engineers, promote best practices, and contribute to a collaborative and high-performance team culture.

Desired Skills and Experience

What we would like you to bring to the team:

  • 10+ years of data engineering experience with a focus on large-scale data processing and scalable infrastructure.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with SQL for data manipulation and query optimization.
  • Experience with big data frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
  • Expertise with ETL tools and orchestration frameworks, like Apache Airflow, AWS Glue to build and monitor data workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and data services (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Data Lake).
  • Solid understanding of database systems (both SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to data quality and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience with ETL tools
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and DevOps as it applies to data engineering.
  • Experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
