Job Description

About the opportunity…

The core responsibilities of the Intermediate Software Engineer includes but is not limited to:

  • Culture and Teamwork - act as they would expect other team members to act in line with ELMO’s Values. Works to develop good positive relationships and participates in team activities.
  • Stakeholder Management - keeps tangential teams informed and expectations managed around everyday work updates. Uses judgement about others' reaction when disclosing information and opinions.
  • Debugging & Monitoring - systematically debug issues located within a single service, whilst taking greater responsibility for the monitoring systems.
  • Security - understands the importance of security and starts to see work through a security lens.
  • Software Architecture - a good understanding of, and designs functions that are aligned with, the overall service architecture.
  • Technical Understanding and Prioritization - displays a clear technical confidence and understanding, prioritizes tasks and acts accordingly.
  • Testing - understands the importance of a testing strategy, with growing levels of autonomy.
  • Writing Code - consistently write testable, readable code across larger more complex projects.
  • Ensure compliance with ELMO’s information security privacy policies and procedures

 

Desired Skills and Experience

What we would like you to bring to the team...

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience of minimum three years.
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years’ work experience of agile/scrum methodology.
  • Well-developed communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong background in ReactJS/NodeJS.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and a proactive approach to gaining proficiency in additional technologies as required, including but not limited to PHP
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, skill for writing reusable libraries.
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
  • Knowledge of concurrency patterns and familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code.
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application.
  • Experience creating database schemas that represent and support business processes.
  • Basic understanding of Common Language Runtime (CLR), its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial.
