Job Description

 Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Software Engineer will be required to work closely with Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers and Product Managers, to design, modify, develop and deploy new features, as well as understanding and providing technical specifications for the project. The Senior Software Engineer works from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and maintains documentation of process flow.

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for examining and delivering a well-designed technical solution in a clean and maintainable code, in order to follow the industry’s best practice. A key aspect in this role is to contribute and provide leadership in all phases of the development lifecycle, by troubleshooting, testing and maintaining core software products.

The core role of the Senior Software Engineer includes but is not limited to:

  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.
  • Understand functional specifications and provide technical specifications.
  • Contribute to technical solutions as part of the SCRUM team.
  • Design, build and maintain efficient, well designed, reusable and reliable code.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and maintain the core software product to ensure strong optimisation and functionality.
  • Create technical specifications and test plans.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Maintain existing software to identify bottlenecks, defects and bugs, and devise solutions to mitigate and address these issues.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Enhance existing systems by analysing business objectives, preparing an action.
  • Plan and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
  • Help maintain code quality, organisation, and automation.
  • Investigate and develop skills in new technologies.
  • Develop and deploy new features to facilitate related procedures and tools if necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with Information Security and privacy policies and procedures.

  

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience of minimum of three years.
  • Minimum 5 years’ PHP development experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading the design and implementation of Software Applications.
  • Must have experience in React JS, Symfony or Laravel,  and API Testing
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years’ experience of agile/scrum technology.
  • Experience in OO programming and MVC frameworks.
  • Strong leadership skills (leading a team of junior to mid developers) is required.
  • Comfortable with the LAMP environment.
  • Experience in building complex CMS.
  • Familiar with AWS and/or Google Cloud.
  • Follow industry best practice.
  • Skill for writing reusable libraries.
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns.
  • Knowledge of concurrency patterns.
  • Experience with popular web application frameworks.
  • Knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code.
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application.
  • Basic understanding of Common Language Runtime (CLR), its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds.
  • Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial.
